The second batch of FM Phase-III was auctioned for 266 channels in 92 cities, which included 227 channels in 69 new cities and 39 channels in 23 existing cities.

Held from October 26 to December 14, 2016, only 66 radio channels were bid for 200.01 crore in 48 towns. 200 channels found no takers.

The highest bid was made by a Sun Group Company, Kal Radio Ltd., at 23.4 crore, in Hyderabad. Dehradun notched the second highest bid at 15.61 crore, made by South Asia FM Limited.

Other cities, which received high bids (in multiples of crores of rupees), were Alleppey, Erode, Hubli-Dharwad, Nellore, Salem, and Vellore at 7.02 crore each, Vijayawada at 7.0 crore, Tiruchy at 5.0 crore, Muzaffarpur at 4.3 crore, Puducherry at 4.1 crore, Mysore at 3.2 crore, Amravati, Bharuch, Jamnagar, and Ujjain at 3.51 crore each, Asansol at 1.94 crore, Durg-Bhillainagar, Godhra, Junagadh, Mehsana, Palanpur, Porbandar, Raigarh, and Veraval at 1.71 crore each, Rajahmundry at 1.5 crore, and Tirunelveli and Warangal at 1.2 crore each.
