The information and broadcasting ministry has tasked the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) with holding the International Film Festival of India (IFFI).
The directorate of film festivals held the charge of holding IFFI. The festival will now be organized by the NFDC, a public sector unit. The move comes over two months ahead of the 48th edition of the film festival scheduled in Goa.
The NFDC has a strong track record in organizing industry events such as Film Bazaar, which serves as a converging point for film buyers and sellers from all over the world.
The ministry had recently constituted a 40-member preview committee to select films for IFFI. It had also set up steering and technical committees for the festival. - Business Standard
