A Division Bench of the Hyderabad High Court comprising Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganthan and Justice Uma Devi on Tuesday dismissed a PIL filed challenging the action of the State government in entering into cable TV business through a fully- owned company.

The PIL was filed by YSR Congress Party MLA A. Ramakrishna Reddy who sought a direction to the Centre and the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India to bar the AP government from entering into cable TV distribution through Andhra Pradesh State Fiber Net Limited.

The Bench made it clear that that there was no basis for the contention of the petitioner and dismissed the petition.

The Bench was dealing with a petition filed by K.V Subba Reddy who said that because of non-implementation of rules, workers are overburdened and this was leading to accidents of luxury buses. – The Hindu
