Star Utsav will go off-air on Thursday January 4, 2018 in UK. The news has been confirmed by Star TV UK.

Star Utsav has been earmarked for closure for several weeks after disappointing viewing figures. The channel, which launched in 2015 was known to re-run popular shows from the Star TV library. It is expected, Star Plus UK will continue with its afternoon strand in which it re-runs popular Star Plus shows.

Star Utsav will not be replaced by another service, instead Star TV UK will focus on its core three channels – Star Plus (and HD), Star Gold (and HD) and Star Bharat.

With competition increasing in the UK Asian TV market, several channels are under the scanner, with Star Utsav becoming the first major casualty. Since the Sky Asian pack changes in August, there have been a number of surprises with a handful of channels churning out disastrous ratings. – Biz Asia Live
