The BBC World Service has undergone a major expansion, which includes the BBC's base in New Delhi becoming its largest outside of the UK, building on its services in English, Hindi and Tamil to launch digital services in Gujarati, Punjabi, Marathi and Telugu. The BBC is now looking to expand its digital experimentation and collaboration with an exciting new project lead by Connected Studio.

As we look to grow our digital audiences across South Asia, we are excited about exploring ways to deliver content to audiences in two overlapping areas: personalization and anytime content. In such a diverse society, it is increasingly important that we are able to deliver different types and variations of the same story, so the user receives the most relevant content to them, whenever and wherever they are.

We are looking for experienced digital companies to tackle the challenge, which addresses at least one of these themes and demonstrates scalable and re-usable technology that can be utilised by BBC’s editorial teams. For more information, please see full brief below.

Who can get involved?

This opportunity is open to any tech company based in India. We held a couple of events in April this year in Delhi/Gurgaon, Hyderabad and Bengaluru, and we will be continuing our innovation through this challenge around personalisation and anytime content. We have uploaded the video of one of these events for those who did not attend, or for attendees to revisit the content. N.B. this video archive is for information purposes only.
