Star India will not only broadcast the forthcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) but it will also produce the audio-visual feed for the Twenty20 league.
The announcement was made on Monday when the BCCI opened the bids for the audio-visual production rights for the IPL and the 2018-19 domestic cricket season.
While the BCCI statement didn’t specify any details, it was understood that Star India Pvt. Ltd. and the International Management Group were the only two interested bidders, with Star walking away with the rights for having submitted the lowest bid of approximately Rs. 9.5 crore. This would mean that for the first time, the IPL broadcaster would also produce live content. - The Hindu
