Senior TV journalist Rahul Mahajan has been appointed the new Editor-in-Chief of Rajya Sabha Television. The television channel is run and managed by the Upper House of Parliament.

This was announced in a statement from RSTV. The recommendation was made by a five-member Search Committee headed by A Surya Prakash, chairman of Prasar Bharti.

“In response to an open advertisement, 57 applications were received and the Selection Committee interviewed 15 candidates over two days before making their recommendation,” The statement added. Rajya Sabha chairman M Venkaiah Naidu today approved the appointment after accepting the recommendation.

Mahajan was selected among 57 applicants and the Selection Committee interviewed 15 candidates before making its recommendation, an official statement said.

46-year-old Mahajan has 26 years of media experience including 23 years in news channels in various capacities in different organizations. He is currently Consultant Editor, Prasar Bharti. He worked for Jansatta, Zee News, AjTak, Star News, News 24 and Bhaskar News.

Mahajan has 12 years experience of covering the Parliament. – TOI
