Broadcast & Media Technology 2017 was held from July 13 to 15 in Chennai. The event showcased latest equipment and technology related to radio and TV broadcasting from India and abroad. More than 100 companies from 25 countries participated in the exhibition and nearly 3000 broadcast professionals from radio and TV channels in Bangalore, Chennai, Coimbatore, Hyderabad, Cochin, and Thiruvananthapuram, and other cities in India attended the event.

The show had as exhibitors manufacturers and distributors of broadcast equipment and technologies for radio and TV from India and overseas. These included AGIV India, Avolon Lighting, BECIL, Bhatia Photo, Canara Lighting, Canon, Cat5 Broadcast, CDM Technologies, Cineom Broadcast, Datavideo, Delta4cast, Dewan Lighting, FOR-A, Ideal Broadcasting, Karthavya Technologies, Magicam Cinetools, Mediaguru, Netweb Technologies, Panasonic, Pranav Mediatech, Primetech Communications, Real Image, Rohde & Schwarz, Ross Video, TSL, and Visual Technologies.

The product categories displayed included archiving, DTT, multimedia, satellite and microwave, audio, DVB-H, networking, satellite linking, automation, graphics and animation, production, transmission and delivery, DRM, HDTV, post-production, video, DTH, IPTV, SAN/NAS, and video streaming.

Approved by India Trade Promotion Organization (ITPO), and supported by Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Technology (FICCI), Prasar Bharati, and Audio Engineering Society India, the show had good attendance of senior officials from All India Radio and Doordarshan and several other broadcast professionals from radio and TV channels across South India.

Substantially bigger than its previous version, a one-day conference on the theme, Future of Television and Radio: Role of Content Creation and Distribution was organized concurrently with the exhibition. Eminent speakers provided an insight of current status of industry, challenges, and opportunities for both buyers and sellers.

The show is fast emerging as the main broadcast technology show in South India and provides a great platform for buyer-seller interface.
