A sudden increase in the popularity of television streaming services like Netflix and Amazon Prime among the young generation is observed, leading to movement of TV audiences to digital form. Current scenario of television broadcast industry is going through remarkable changes and it has now become one of the fastest growing sectors of the country. Television production industry plays a vital role in creating people's awareness about different laws and policies and programs by providing education and information. Future of television production vision is about personalized technology, on-demand viewer experience, small TV shows, and independent cinema – everyone connected to a smart television.

Let us have a look at the key technology trends in television production.

OTT. Over-the-top television is a new trend in TV production. TV via live streaming, smartphone, and consoles has started in the age of TV Everywhere. Video-on-demand, stand-alone streaming, and multi-screen viewing are among a few things on the platter of television production. OTT is a term used in television broadcasting to refer to audio, video, and other media transmitted via Internet as a standalone product.

4K to immersive viewing (Ultra HD). TV production has moved a new way to 4KUHD and 8KUHD. Ultra HD refers to different types of resolutions, i.e., 4KUHD (3840*2160 pix) and 8KUHD (7680*4320 pix). Nowadays many entertainment studio and production houses are preparing their footage for viewing in 4KUHD. Virtual reality also starts as the next big thing in television. Virtual is trending for short films, music, movies, news, and sports. Virtual technology will take the experience to a higher level of video quality.

Virtual reality. One step beyond augmented reality is virtual reality (VR). As a demo of virtual technology, just imagine that you are watching a football game on TV. You'd hit a button on your remote control and put on a VR headset. Now you'd see what appeared to be a re-enactment of the play right in front of you. Today's more and more studio and TV productions develop VR movies. It's like we will get smart TVs capable of playing them as long you are wearing a VR headset.

TV broadcasting through Internet. Internet has given us yet another method for finding and consuming audiovisual entertainment. Today's availability of fast broadband Internet service in home and everywhere (much of it via cable, television, phone, and satellite service) has enabled the Internet to become a competitor of more traditional television production network and screens. Today there is a growing trend of cutting cable TV and satellite service in favor of the Internet. Internet protocol (IP) may be the largest technology trend in TV production for live streaming and video-on-demand.

Multi-screen. Multi-screen viewership may be a new trend in TV production which refers to connectivity and sharing. Nowadays TV has become social. TV shows go trending and garner higher viewership and rating depending on whether the consumption on social media is rolling or not.

Content mobility. As the cost of video screen falls, the demand for content mobility will rise. Now a smartphone serves as the nerve center for the screen world – content will be able to follow a consumer from one device to another and from one location to another. Although it creates a number of back-end headaches, it also creates new opportunities for ad impression and multiscreen lifestyle.

TV production is going social. TV viewers watch their favorite shows while interacting on social media platform via mobiles or laptops. Nowadays many people are inclined to share their opinions on their favorite TV shows. So we can share our thoughts with our friends and relatives on social sites like Facebook, Twitter, and others.
