Republic Bharat may launch a second channel soon
Republic TV’s owning company ARG Outlier Asianet News Pvt Ltd has silently announced the launch of its second news channel – Republic Bharat – in Hindi. The company had recently announced a fundraiser and also hinted towards starting an IPO or a strategic investor through an open letter by a Gurugram based financial firm. Shamsher Singh, the India News Editor has been appointed to lead the Hindi channel.
Entry of Republic Bharat is aptly timed at the backdrop of the country preparing for General Elections in 2019, which will be the biggest showdown for any News and Current Affairs Media Network. It is expected to be launched end January 2019. The first promo of the channel is ready and has been exclusively shared.
While, the launch process of the Hindi News Channel is nearing its final stages with Arnab Goswami camping in Noida for the final round of recruitments, it has created discomfort among Hindi news broadcasters as the entry of Republic Bharat is likely to make competition even more tougher. The new entrant will be largely in competition with AajTak, News18 India, ABP News, Zee News, and India TV.
