Vizrt supports AWS for Media & Entertainment initiative
Vizrt today announced its support for the AWS for Media & Entertainment initiative from Amazon Web Services (AWS), complimenting Vizrt’s tried and tested Flexible Access Solution Suites to give customers ever greater control and adaptability.
AWS for Media & Entertainment is an initiative featuring new and existing services and solutions from AWS and AWS Partners, built specifically for content creators, rights holders, producers, broadcasters, and distributors. AWS adds the newly announced Amazon Nimble Studio, a service that enables customers to set up creative studios in hours instead of weeks, to a portfolio of more purpose-built media and entertainment industry services than any other cloud, including AWS Elemental MediaPackage, AWS Elemental MediaConnect, AWS Elemental MediaLive, AWS Elemental MediaConvert, and Amazon Interactive Video Service (IVS). AWS for Media & Entertainment also simplifies the process of building, deploying, and reinventing mission-critical industry workloads by aligning AWS and AWS Partner capabilities against five solution areas: Content Production; Media Supply Chain & Archive; Broadcast; Direct-to-Consumer & Streaming; and Data Science & Analytics.
Media organizations seeking more flexibility about where content creators are located and more agility accessing media creation and management tools are increasingly migrating on-premises production infrastructures to cloud-based environments. Harnessing the combined power of software, computing, and networks, Vizrt offers production solutions that are in regular use in a variety of locations by major global media producers using AWS services for live production and content management workflows.
Daniel Url, Head of Product Management, Vizrt Group, said, “Vizrt has been building purely software-based solutions since the beginning of the company’s history, in line with our SDVS (software defined visual storytelling) philosophy. AWS and the cloud have given our customers a real boost in efficiency in recent years. Our Flexible Access software plans and NDI video-over-IP capabilities, combined with AWS Media Services really help our customers exploit the benefits of cloud and remote production workflows. AWS is both an integral part of our cloud strategy, and an inspiring R&D sparring partner.”
By building on AWS, customers can quickly develop new paths to revenue with technologies tailored to media and entertainment organizations, enabled by OpEx driven Flexible Access plans from Vizrt that provide high levels of adaptability and customer control.
The Vizrt Production Control solution suite, available through Flexible Access, uses IP connectivity to achieve instant access to, and seamless interchange with sources from, anywhere across the network in real time. Operation of the solution can occur from any compatible desktop or mobile device remotely, even in virtual environments.
A major national U.S. broadcaster currently uses the Live Production Solution within Vizrt Production Control for complete live show production on a regular schedule, which has been extremely useful with staff unable to gather on location. A leading mobile production provider is also using the solution to produce a range of corporate live events with stakeholders located in various locations, and a well-known social media platform is using the solution for the same purpose. In these cases, the solution is deployed using AWS for real-time CPU and processing to produce live event programming.
Viz One content management software can incorporate cloud-based elements as well. Many News and Sports broadcasters in Australia and the U.S., and national broadcasters in New Zealand and France are all using AWS for archive storage purposes with Viz One. Two of these organizations also use Vizrt easy editing to remotely access content from the archives. Viz One is a centralized and scalable platform to effortlessly ingest, manage, archive, edit, and deliver media along with associated metadata for creating a range of programming for multiple types of viewing experiences.
