Sony Sports Network to broadcast Badminton Asia Championships for two years

The Badminton Asia Championships 2022 will be televised live by Sony Sports Network as the two entities have inked a two-year broadcast deal. The agreement will cover the championship seasons of 2022 and 2023. Through this association, the network has attained exclusive TV and digital rights to the tournament across India and the subcontinent, incorporating Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, the Maldives, Nepal, and Sri Lanka.

The competition, which returned after a two-year break, commenced on April 26 and will be played until May 2, 2022.

The tournament has been currently conducted in Manila, Philippines. Indian sportspersons like Kidambi Srikanth, PV Sindhu, Saina Nehwal Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, Chirag Shetty, Arjun M.R, Dhruv Kapila, Krishna Prasad Garaga, Vishnuvardhan Goud Panjala, Simran Singhi, Ritika Thaker, Ishaan Bhatnagar, Tanisha Crasto, Venkat Gaurav Prasad and Juhi Dewangan have participated in the event.

The broadcast of the competition on television will commence from April 29 till May 1, 2022, with matches beginning at 1:30 PM on April 29 and 10:30 AM on the following two days. The bouts will be broadcast live on Sony Pictures Networks’ on-demand OTT platform SonyLIV, as well as on Sony TEN 2 stations.
