Two broadcasters for IPL: Digital and TV rights valued at Rs 44,075 cr

The 2023-27 cycle of the Indian Premier League will have two broadcasters for digital and television.

The rebid process for the digital rights of the IPL has concluded within an hour of resumption of the e-auction in the afternoon session on Monday.

The winner of the television rights challenged the winner of the digital rights at the auction after quickly winding up the morning session.

In the morning session, the IPL TV and digital rights auction closed at a total value of Rs 43,255 crore or Rs 105.5 crore per match. There was an incremental bid of Rs 50 lakh placed in the television category, sources in the know said, taking the per-match value to Rs 57.5 crore from Rs 57 crore, which was the figure at the close of bidding on Sunday.

The total value of the TV rights stands at Rs 23,575 crore for 410 matches. In terms of per-match value, it is Rs 57.5 crore. The digital rights have now touched Rs 50 crore per match or Rs 20,500 crore from Rs 48 crore per match or Rs 19,680 crore earlier.

Attention now shifts to packages C and D, where the bidding is underway.

Bundle C is a special package of 18 matches per season, while group D is for overseas TV and digital rights. Business Standard
