Ektaa Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor step down as heads of Alt Balaji, announced Vivek Koka as Chief Business Officer

Taking to Instagram, Ektaa Kapoor announced that she and her mother Shobha Kapoor are stepping down as the heads of Alt Balaji.

Ektaa Kapoor is one of the most well-known faces in the industry, having led her production house Balaji Telefilms to helm several mega serials on television. Ekta had also cofounded Alt Balaji to produce web series and original films, with her mother Shobha Kapoor in 2017. As per the latest press release, Ektaa and Shobha are both stepping down from their positions at Alt Balaji. The announcement took many by surprise. As per the press release posted by Alt Balaji, it reads, “AltBalaji, one of India’s leading digital entertainment platforms, officially announced today that Ektaa R Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor have stepped down from their positions as the heads of the company. While the process of stepping down started last year, Alt Balaji now has a team to take over. This decision is a strategic one to focus on their ventures.” Hindustan Times
