ATSC publishes four updated standards

Since the last issue of The Standard newsletter, four updated documents have been published on the ATSC website All are the result of changes approved by the TG3 Technology Group in June and by the full Membership in August. The updated documents are:

  • A/331:2023-08, “Signaling, Delivery, Synchronization, and Error Protection.” This updated version includes the amendment, “MMT DRM.” The amendment specified updated signaling in order to enable DRM over MMT, including out-of-order delivery, which is intended to decrease latency.
  • A/336:2023-08, “Content Recovery in Redistribution Scenarios.” This updated version includes the corrigendum, “CRC32 Specification.” The corrigendum made edits to the message_CRC_32 and CRC_32 descriptions contained in Section 5.1.1 of the document.
  • A/360:2023-08, “ATSC 3.0 Security and Service Protection.” This updated version includes the amendment, “MMT DRM.” The amendment updated A/360 to allow for DRM for MMT signaling in addition to DASH signaling, which is already supported.
  • A/72-3:2023-08, “Video and Transport Subsystem Characteristics of MVC for 3D-TV Broadcast in the ATSC Digital Television System.” This updated version includes the amendment, “A/53-3.” The amendment changed the transport signaling from A/72-2 to A/53-3:2023-02. This change was necessary because A/72-2 has been withdrawn.

One Membership ballot is currently open—ATSC Proposed Standard: A/331:2023-08 Amendment No. 1, “FDT Enhancement.” The ballot closes on Oct. 4.
