Dazn favourite to win Ligue 1 broadcasting rights from 2024 to 2028
Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 might have finally received broadcasting rights as popular media outlet DAZN is favourites to air the French league matches. However, it remains to be seen how when the publication will be given the green light to broadcast the games.
It was hoped that Qatar’s beIN Sports and the British sports broadcaster DAZN would fight it out for the freedoms, with the US behemoth Apple perhaps entering the contest to push the bundles’ worth even more. The FLP’s current broadcast partners are Amazon Prime and Canal+.
Regretfully, Canal+ is still stinging from its choice to grant MediaPro the rights five years ago, beIN is ultimately profitable and content with the rights it currently possesses, DAZN is putting money aside for an offer on the Premier League’s rights, and Apple is simply uninterested in French club football.
Amazon Prime also seems to think it paid too much for the liberties in 2021 and doesn’t seem in a position to bid against itself.
Dazn is aiming to spread its media rights to other leagues as well and now the Premier League has been mentioned as one of the top five European leagues that are looking for domestic media broadcasters.
The streaming service has put together a global league collection for viewers in the United States and other countries. For instance, it possesses the domestic broadcast rights to La Liga in Spain and Ligue 1 in France.
There is an additional challenge with the domestic Premier League rights. The league is so popular that the rights in the UK are the most expensive worldwide.
This cycle, which concludes with the 2024–2025 campaign, lasts three years and costs more than $6 billion altogether. Despite the vast array of programming that DAZN already offers, it is unwilling to invest any money to acquire the rights to the Premier League in the United Kingdom. Khel Now
