Norden Communication partners with C-DAC for AI-based thermal cameras

The information technology ministry’s Centre for Development and Advanced Computing (C-DAC) has partnered with UK-based Norden Communications to develop artificial intelligence-based thermal cameras, which are used in security and industrial sectors.

The development comes at a time when the government has been promoting policies to make electronics and semiconductors at home.
As part of the exclusive partnership, Norden Communication will transfer technology for the development of “General Purpose Thermal Camera”.

“This collaboration stands as an opportunity to advance in surveillance technology and demonstrates unwavering dedication to national security as a part of the Make-in-India initiative,” Prashant Oberoi, Director – India and SAARC of Norden Communication, said on February 13.

As part of the partnership, Norden will produce, market, sale and deploy the thermal camera on national highways and defence, oil and gas sectors, the company said in a release.

It claimed that the camera, powered by AI, is good at penetrating snow due to its capability of detecting infrared radiation and capturing of heat signatures.

Norden Communication’s product line includes cabling system, surveillance system and public address systems. It has an office in Bengaluru and is setting up a manufacturing facility under the ‘Make in India’ initiative. PTI
