Sky Deutschland launches cable TV alternative for tenants
German pay-TV broadcaster Sky Deutschland is responding to the end of the possibility to include the cable TV subscription in tenant’s rental costs from July 1, 2024 with a new TV streaming package.
Sky TV comprises the major German free-TV channels in HD quality, including ARD, ZDF, RTL and ProSiebenSat.1, several apps and catch-up services for €10 per month for a 12-month subscription period. Also included is Sky Sport News HD and, as an option, Discovery+ for 12 months at no extra cost.
After one year, the subscription price rises to €15 per month. For the duration of the subscription, customers receive the Sky Q IP box free of charge. For an additional €5 per month, customers can sign up for the Sky Entertainment package and Netflix for one year, after which the combined package costs €27.50 per month. Other Sky packages such as Sky Bundesliga, Sky Sport and Sky Cinema can be added at any time.
“Sky is the gateway to a fantastic world of entertainment with the best fictional and sports content, and we have the right offer for every taste. With Sky TV, we have now launched an entry-level offer to appeal to people who want to enjoy the most popular free-TV channels in top HD quality at no extra cost and get to know the special world of Sky in a simple way,” said Wolfram Wildhagen, Senior Vice President Sky Commercial & Consumer at Sky Deutschland, adding that Sky TV provides “an exciting option for all households looking for a strong alternative” following the change in cable TV regulation.
