S4C appoints Angell as Head of entertainment and factual
Welsh pubcaster S4C has appointed Beth Angell as head of entertainment and factual entertainment, replacing Elen Rhys who is stepping down after almost a decade at the company.
With 30 years’ experience, Angell has worked as both a series producer and senior producer for Welsh prodcos including Boom Cymru, which she joined in 2022, Afanti Media and Rondo Media. She also previously had a stint as a director at BBC Studios in Wales in 2021.
Angell’s producing work spans genres including entertainment, comedy and music, and she was recently series producer and director on S4C reality series Tanwen & Ollie.
Other credits for S4C include community-based project series Prosiect Pum Mil, Iaith ar Daith and coverage of Wales’ annual youth festival the Urdd Eisteddfod and the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod.
Angell will join S4C in June, ahead of Rhys’ departure in July. Rhys joined S4C as content commissioner for entertainment, fact ent, comedy and music in 2015, before being promoted to head of entertainment and fact ent in 2022.
Prior to S4C, she was a producer at BBC Wales for 21 years, starting as a radio and TV producer at BBC Education and Learning in 1993, before becoming a series producer, director and script writer in 2002. C21Media
