CMG’s Paris Olympics broadcast to set record for scale of coverage

China Media Group (CMG) gets ready for the broadcast of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, with the opening ceremony to be held on July 26. As one of the main broadcasters for the Games accredited by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), CMG will set a record for the scale of its broadcast coverage of the Paris Olympics.

CMG has signed coverage agreements for the quadrennial international sporting event with China Mobile’s entertainment platform Migu and popular video platforms such as Douyin, Kuaishou and Tencent, exceeding all previous Olympic Games in terms of number of platforms and contract amount.

Zhang Dong, the deputy general manager of Migu, CMG’s only live broadcast copyright partner, said that CMG is the world’s largest and a world-class mainstream broadcaster. China Mobile is very happy to cooperate with CMG to broadcast the Paris Olympic Games, present a wonderful sports feast to the public and cheer for the Chinese national team, Zhang added.

So far, CMG has signed advertising contracts with nearly 50 companies, both domestic and international, for its broadcast of the Paris Games. China’s famous car brand Hongqi has gained the naming rights to CMG’s Olympic special program “China’s Glory.” Other domestic companies, such as Alibaba Group, packaging water supplier Nongfu Spring and leading dairy group Yili, have signed up as CMG’s “gold partners.” China Post and online recruitment platform BOSS Zhipin have also joined hands with CMG, particularly for its coverage of table tennis, badminton and other individual events.

CMG also reached agreements with many internationally renowned enterprises like Amway, Coca-Cola, BMW, Budweiser, Shell, Adidas, etc. CGTN
