Philippines fixed communication services revenue to hit $4.7B by 2028
The total fixed communication services revenue in the Philippines is expected to increase at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 5.3% from $3.7 billion in 2023 to $4.7 billion in 2028, mainly driven by the fixed broadband service segment, forecasts GlobalData, a leading data and analytics company.
GlobalData’s latest Philippines Fixed Communications Forecast (Q1 2024) reveals that the fixed voice revenue growth will remain steady over the forecast period. Fixed broadband services revenue, on the other hand, will increase at a healthy CAGR of 5.7% during 2023-2028.
Srikanth Vaidya, Telecom Analyst at GlobalData, comments: “Growth in fixed broadband service revenue will be driven by the steady increase in broadband subscriptions, especially higher-ARPS yielding fiber broadband subscriptions.”
Fiber lines accounted for a majority 70% share of the total fixed broadband lines in 2023, which will increase to about 85% by 2028, supported by the government and operator investments on fiber network infrastructure and FTTH service expansions.
Vaidya concludes: “PLDT will lead the fixed voice services segment in terms of subscriptions through 2028. The operator will also top the fixed broadband services market, by subscriptions, supported by its strong position in DSL and FTTH service lines. The operator has earmarked a CAPEX of around PHP75 to 78 billion ($1.28 to 1.33 billion) in 2024, a significant portion of which it will be used to upgrade and expand its fiber broadband network and gain from wider coverage of its FTTH services.” GlobalData
