Comcast partnering for broadband network expansion
Comcast has submitted 91 applications for the second round of the Massachusetts Broadband Infrastructure Gap Networks Grant Program, administered by the Massachusetts Broadband Institute (MBI). If awarded, these applications aim to connect remaining homes and businesses in 91 communities to Comcast’s Xfinity network, offering gig speeds and reliable service.
Comcast has invested $909 million over the last three years in Massachusetts to expand and maintain its network. The company has already completed five broadband expansion projects with MBI, connecting over 3,000 homes and businesses since 2018. Comcast has received 140 letters of support from local communities for these applications.
In addition to network expansion, Comcast has provided $54.8 million in charitable contributions to 238 nonprofits across Massachusetts and installed 76 Lift Zones offering free WiFi service to community centers. StockTitan
