Julie McNamara Named Head Of Programming For CBS All Access

ViacomCBS is making some changes to its executive ranks for its digital business, promoting Julie McNamara to head of programming at CBS All Access.

CBS executives Jeff Grossman, Rob Gelick and Domenic DiMeglio have also been upped to new positions.

McNamara has been elevated to executive vp and head of programming for CBS All Access, reporting to ViacomCBS chief digital officer and CBS Interactive CEO Marc DeBevoise and chief creative officer David Nevins. Her purview will expand to include overseeing programming strategy for the streaming platform including current and future original series, acquisitions and bringing in content from other ViacomCBS properties.

The newly merged company said in reporting its fourth-quarter earnings that it will look to expand CBS All Access to include programming from its cable channels (other than Showtime, which offers its own streaming product). The expanded All Access would be a subscription option aimed at a broad audience and positioned between ViacomCBS’ free, ad-supported platform Pluto TV and Showtime’s premium service.

Grossman, previously senior vp content strategy at CBS Entertainment Digital, will take on the newly created position of executive vp content strategy for CBS All Access and CBS Entertainment Digital. Reporting to McNamara and CBS Entertainment president Kelly Kahl, he’ll manage the flow of content onto CBS All Access (from both within ViacomCBS and from outside suppliers) and develop new programming. He’ll also continue leading the CBS Entertainment Digital content strategy operation, while taking on oversight of social and editorial content for CBS primetime, daytime and late night.

Gelick has been upped to executive vp and general manager, streaming services, and chief product officer, ViacomCBS Digital. He’ll continue to lead product, engineering, video and design for CBS All Access while adding similar responsibilities for other ViacomCBS direct-to-consumer products.

DiMeglio moves up to executive vp, head of operations and chief marketing officer for ViacomCBS Digital. He will continue to lead marketing, monetization and data insights for CBS All Access as well as video ad monetization, distribution and operations for ViacomCBS Digital. Both Gelick and DiMeglio report to DeBevoise. Hollywood Reporter
