ACT Fibernet Planning To Set Up Free WiFi Zones In Chennai
ACT Fibernet is rolling out free WiFi zones in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The company has also partnered with Greater Chennai Corporation for the same. According to the company, under this initiative, people will get free access to WiFi connectivity. As a part of the tie-up, Act Fibernet will provide free internet for 30 minutes at a speed of 20Mbps.
In fact, the company claims that close to 250 to 300 users at a time can access the WiFi hotspots. The company will install 25 WiFi zones across all prime locations in the city. It includes 14 Amma Canteens across 15 Zones. Apart from that, the company has revised its broadband plans for its Chennai users, where it is offering 50Mbps. The company has seven plans that include a Giga plan. It ships 1Gbps download speed. Interestingly, this plan is cheaper in Chennai compared to other markets like Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
The plans are priced between Rs. 799 and Rs. 2,999. The basic plan of Rs. 799 is offering 200GB at 50Mbps speed. The plan offers 500GB data at 100Mbps for Rs. 999. It ships 1Mbps data speed after FUP speed. There is another plan which offers 150Mbps data speed for 1000GB data at Rs. 1,049. While Rs. 1,099 ships 1,250GB data at 200Mbps speed.
On the other hand, the company is offering three premium plans, which start from Rs. 1,299 to Rs. 2,999. Meanwhile, Internet metrics firm and Speedtest creator Ookla says that ACT Fibernet is leading the charts in fixed broadband download speeds in India with speeds between 45.31 and 47.74 Mbps. Furthermore, Hathway reported the second position with a speed of 33.69 Mbps. BSNL posted a speed between 16.02 and 19.45 Mbps.
