AT&T drops HBO Max from premium unlimited wireless plan

HBO Max is no longer available as a bundled perk for new subscribers on AT&T’s top-tier unlimited wireless plan, according to Variety.

The news outlet reports the streaming platform was previously free with the AT&T Unlimited Elite wireless plan, and prior to HBO Max’s introduction, the carrier has given HBO for free on its most expensive mobile plans dating back to 2017.

“HBO Max is a great service, but we constantly experiment with the features we offer our customers to give them the best value,” an AT&T rep told Variety in a statement.

Customers who received HBO Max for free in prior AT&T offerings will not be affected and will continue to have access to the streaming service as long as they maintain their plan, Variety said. AT&T announced the AT&T Unlimited Premium plan, replacing Unlimited Elite, this week, which offers 50 gigabytes of hotspot data but no longer includes HBO Max.

Meanwhile, AT&T’s Cricket Wireless brand currently offers the ad-supported version of HBO Max included with its $60 per month unlimited plan.
