Azam TV secures license to broadcast in Zimbabwe
The Broadcasting Authority of Zimbabwe (BAZ) has licensed Pan-African satellite television service provider Azam TV, which is expected to begin broadcasting by year-end.
The service is already present in Tanzania, Uganda, Malawi, Kenya and Rwanda. Its bouquets cover sport, entertainment, news, music and religious channels.
Azam TV uses Eutelsat’s 7B/7C satellites from 7 degrees East.
Azam Media said they expect to also carry certain Zimbabwean channels. However, an earlier attempt to supply a second DTH service (besides that of MultiChoice/DStv) for Zimbabwe failed when Kwese TV was forced to close (in 2019) when the country suffered a financial crisis.
The new service provider also plans to have the Zimpapers Television Network (ZTN) on its roster. BroadcastProME
