BeIN Sports France banned from broadcasting Atalanta Games
In a statement, beIN Sports France have announced they will not broadcast games featuring Atalanta BC anymore. beIN Sports is the main broadcaster in France for foreign football leagues, bar Premier League. The Qatari-owned media group have resorted to a blanketing Atalanta games ban because of a decision from the Direction Générale de la Concurrence, de la Consommation et de la Répression des Fraudes (DGCCRF). This administrative body belongs to the French Ministry of Economics and Finance and is responsible for the regulation of competitive markets, economic protection and consumer safety.
In their statement, beIN Sports France state that every broadcast containing one of the Bergamo club’s sponsors would constitute banned advertising for risky financial products. The Serie A sixth-placed team’s main shirt sponsor is Plus500, a global financial technology company providing online trading services. beIN Sports France add they will make every effort to ensure that their subscribers and Serie A fans would soon be able to watch games from Gian Piero Gasperini’s side again.
