Broadband equipment manufacturer GX group plans new Indian factory
GX Group, a leading manufacturer of fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) connectivity products, announced today its intention to establish a new manufacturing facility in India with a planned investment of Rs 100 crore.
The European broadband equipment company is currently evaluating potential sites in the states of Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, and Uttar Pradesh, seeking an optimal location in terms of local infrastructure and government incentives.
The new Indian factory will produce Wi-Fi routers, access points, GPON and XGS PON equipment for both domestic consumptions within India as well as international export markets like Europe.
Among GX Group’s major European telecommunications customers are KPN, Vodafone, and T-Mobile.
This substantial Indian investment by the Netherlands-based firm includes capital expenditures on land, buildings, and machinery.
It comes on the heels of Investment International, a Dutch government-backed entity, investing nearly Rs 200 crore in GX Group last year to bolster its Indian manufacturing capabilities encompassing product design and production.
GX Group’s decision to localise manufacturing in India aligns with the country’s production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme aimed at attracting foreign direct investment into the electronics production sector.
Prominent Indian customers for GX Group’s broadband solutions presently include Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Idea’s fibre broadband service You Broadband, and the state-owned telecommunications company Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL).
The company states its export strategy will be revamped in conjunction with this Indian manufacturing investment, though specific details were not provided. KNN India
