Burlington Telecom to offer affordable internet program to fill ACP gap
A local internet service provider is now offering a new program to help low-income customers pay for high-speed internet access.
Burlington Telecom announced on Tuesday that is offering a two-tiered plan for customers who struggle to afford access to fiber internet services.
The plans were designed to fill the gap left when the federal government’s Affordable Connectivity Program ended in May, which previously offered low-income families a $30 a month discount on their internet bill.
Roughly 26,000 Vermont households benefitted from the Affordable Connectivity Program before funding ended.
Burlington Telecom’s Internet Assistance Program will come in a basic 50 MB/50MB internet connection for $9.95 per month or an enhanced 150MB/150MB internet connection for $24.95 per month, according to the company.
Both packages include smart WiFi and free installation for a single outlet, Burlington Telecom said. MSN
