Cabinet approves new DTH service norms, licenses to be issued for 20 years
The Union Cabinet has approved changes in the MIB guidelines to bring them in sync with the existing FDI policy that allows 100 percent FDI in the DTH broadcasting services sector. DTH licenses will now be issued for 20 years with renewal every 10 years and license fee will be similar to that in the telecom sector. The license fee has been revised from 10 percent of gross revenue to 8 percent of adjusted gross revenue. The fee will be collected on a quarterly basis against the current annual basis. 100 percent FDI can flow into the sector.
