Cable TV operators and internet service providers mark defunct wires as they agree to remove them

Under the supervision of All Bengal Cable TV and Broadband Operators’ United Forum, multi-system operators (MSO) and internet service providers in Kolkata have come together to remove dead or defunct overhead wires from several roads in the city.

The exercise will be carried out along 10 stretches in north, central and south Kolkata.

Cable TV administrators and network access suppliers on Monday began checking live cables – the ones that carry signs to homes – so they don’t get clipped accidentally during the evacuation of older links.

The administrators said denoting the live links was the initial move towards evacuation of unused upward links.

This is just the second opportunity in quite a long while that link administrators in Calcutta will eliminate dead upward links.

Numerous administrators conceded that a large portion of the cables over most streets were outdated.

The Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) has held various meetings with the administrators requesting that they orchestrate the upward links in an organized way however not much has occurred till now. BCS Bureau
