Doordarshan is official broadcast partner for Hockey India League 2024-25

Doordarshan has been announced as the official broadcaster for the upcoming season of the Hockey India League (HIL), set to begin on December 28. (More Hockey News)

This marks a significant moment as the league makes its return after a seven-year hiatus, bringing both men’s and women’s competitions together for the first time, making it a historic event for Indian hockey.

The much-anticipated season will feature 8 men’s teams and 4 women’s teams, with matches taking place in Rourkela and Ranchi.

As part of its commitment to promoting Indian sports, Doordarshan will bring the action of HIL to millions of viewers across the country, ensuring that fans from both urban and rural areas can experience the excitement of the league.

Navneet Sehgal, Chairman of Prasar Bharati, expressed pride in the partnership with the Hockey India League (HIL), emphasizing the significance of the platform in celebrating national sports.

In a press release, he stated, “Prasar Bharati is privileged to partner with the Hockey India League, a platform that celebrates our national sports and aligns people across different categories. Through our comprehensive coverage, we aim to bring the electrifying spirit of hockey, including the historic debut of Women HIL, to viewers everywhere, bridging urban and rural divide and amplifying the league’s impact.”

Talking about the association, Hockey India League (HIL) Governing Committee Chairperson Dilip Tirkey said, “We are thrilled to partner with Doordarshan as the official broadcaster of the Hockey India League. This year is particularly special with the launch of the Women’s HIL, a landmark step in promoting women’s hockey.”

Doordarshan’s partnership with Hockey India extends to all National Championships. All Hockey India National Championships across various categories, as well as all hockey events in India owned by Hockey India, will be telecast on DD. Outlook India
