ES Broadcast Flexes its IP Capability and Selects Grass Valley’s LDX 100 IP Camera Platform
Grass Valley today announces that global broadcast solutions specialist, ES Broadcast, has made a significant purchase of Grass Valley’s revolutionary LDX 100 IP camera platform. The UK-based company has invested in 50 cameras, with an option on 50 more before the end of the year, to meet increasing client demand for the LDX 100 and to prepare for major sporting events in 2021.
The new LDX 100 cameras will become an important component of ES Broadcast’s portfolio of UHD-IP equipment and will be available to clients worldwide. The unique LDX 100 camera delivers up to 3X high speed in native 4K UHD and 3G/HD image capture. A self-contained IP device that connects directly to the network, at up to 100 Gbps, it leverages the full power and agility of IP by delivering easy, rapid set-up and configuration and the ability to add features as needed.
Ben Murphy, managing director, ES Broadcast commented: “IP technology provides flexibility and efficiency in live productions by enabling the remote and distributed workflows that have become crucial – especially in sports – in the current global climate. This purchase is the latest evolution of our longstanding partnership with Grass Valley, over the years we have built a strong working relationship with them and have real confidence in the quality of their solutions. The LDX 100 is the most advanced camera on the market and this acquisition underlines our determination to offer pioneering broadcast technology on an unrivaled scale. We are excited to bring this innovation to the live production arena and beyond.”
The LDX 100’s integrated design frees up multiple rack units per camera, previously dedicated to camera base stations, simplifying the logistics for mobile productions when having to pair the right number of cameras to CCUs at each event.
“With the LDX 100, we’re putting the full power of IP at our customers’ fingertips — right from the camera – by removing the need for separate base stations. The camera brings together Grass Valley’s deep knowledge of IP and long heritage in live production to create a future-ready solution that opens up new possibilities in local and remote production workflows,” said Tim Banks, vice president, sales, EMEA, Grass Valley. “We are very proud that ES Broadcast has once again turned to Grass Valley solutions as it drives into the next phase of growth. This is an important purchase of LDX 100 cameras for the rental market worldwide and reiterates our ability to deliver the stunning images and future-ready capability that our customers demand.”
A flexible software upgrade option – available on a temporary or permanent basis — allows customers to leverage the extensive upgrade capabilities of the LDX 100 platform and only pay for features as and when they are required.
Grass Valley will announce its latest product innovations and strategic updates at the GV LIVE Presents — Engage 2020 event on October 13. This one-hour live program will be streamed to customers and partners around the world at 11am and 9pm EDT. BCS Bureau
