FDI in broadcasting sector declines
Foreign direct investment in the Indian information and broadcasting sector decreased from Rs 4,893 crore in Q1 FY24 to Rs 3,374 crore in Q1 FY25, a 31 percent drop. Radio broadcasting attracted Rs 2,839.60 crore, and the Films and Advertisement segment Rs 535.13 crore, according to data from the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade.
Walt Disney invested Rs 2,839 crore, and IVY Entertainment Holdings (B4U Movies, B4U Kadak, and B4U Multiplex) Rs 219 crore.
In FY24, the FDI in the sector increased by 87% to reach Rs 7,012 crore, up from Rs 3,745 crore in FY23. The corresponding figure for FY22 was Rs 1129 crore.
