France national team unable to sell domestic broadcast rights
As reported by Le Progrès, the television broadcast rights for French national team games, outside of the Qatar World Cup later this year, after tonight’s match with South Africa, are yet to be sold, leaving Les Bleus without a domestic TV deal for their upcoming games.
The current deal with rights holders TF1 and M6 comes to an end this month and, despite opening the bidding process for the next rights period between now and 2028, French national team games after yet to be sold.
A round of bidding last autumn proved unsuccessful meaning June’s upcoming Nations League games are yet to find a home after a disappointing €2.4m per game was offered by the highest bidder, well below the €3.6m TF1 and M6, who are involved in a merger which further complicates the matter, currently pay.
More direct negotiations have been opened with the FFF still hoping to match the previous period’s sales, even if it means shortening the new period of rights or changing packages on offer. GetFootballNews
