Great Quality at Marginal Price
Nowadays entertainment comes in many forms; in fact emotions, entertainment, time-pass everything comes through by watching videos. Today, videos do not mean a film, soap opera, daily soap, or any reality shows, but today video means likes, comments, shares, trp, mouth publicity, share links, and downloads. This means, nowadays, making a video is much easier than in the 70s, 80s, and 90s.
In my opinion, a camera is the most significant invention. Nowadays, a camera has become smarter, more handy, and more pocket friendly. Let me talk about old cameras which had complicated rolls, were heavy, difficult to use or handle, costlier to purchase, or difficult to get on rent. But nowadays, shooting with a high-quality camera is not a big deal because we get a substitute of every hi-end version that means great quality-at-marginal price. Let us talk in detail about this.
When we talk about hi-end cameras, we mean ARRI Alexa, Phantom Flex4K, Red Epic M Dragon 6K etc., but nowadays substitutes for these legends, such as Sony PMW-F5, Canon 5D Mark III and Mark IV, and Canon EOS C300 Mark II etc., are available. As we all know that Phantom Flex4K is the king for high-speed shots but Sony PMW-F5 comes at a marginal price with great quality and gives pretty good output. Most of the daily soaps and some small budget films use this camera. Sony F5 comes with a 4K sensor for gorgeous, super-sampled HD and 2K. The PMW-F5 CineAlta camera shoots spectacular images with its 8.9 megapixels (effective) Sony 4K image sensor. There is also high speed shooting up to 12O FPS XAVC 2K/HD internally and 120 FPS RAW 2K onto the AXS-R5. It also comes with six focal lenses that is, 20 mm, 25 mm, 35 mm, 50 mm, 85 mm, 135 mm also with nine iris blades and maximum T2 aperture. This gives awesome quality at a comfortable cost, which results in the F5 being used instead of the Phantom Flex which gives clarity, hi-speed option, lens options, easy availability, ease of carrying or movement, and more important you can get cameraman’s or operator friendly with this machine.
Now let us talk about pocket budget shooting. Maybe every next YouTube video which you watch is 99 percent shot with this machine. I am talking about Canon 5D Mark III or the upper version Canon 5D Mark IV. We can also pick their very close neighbors Canon EOS C300 Mark II. These three cameras have an awesome output with marginal cost, these are 4K, very easy to handle, in fact easy to move, and one of the best cameras for outdoor shoots. Being an associate director/second unit director, when I and my team go for an outdoor challenging shoot we prefer to have C300 with us as it has 8.85mp 4206–2340 super-35 CMOS sensor QFHD resolution, Peak ASA of 102,400, dual pixel autofocus with face detection including LCD monitor/XLR audio unit, side grip, and top handle with which my DOP could run, jump, play with it, and when I need a beautiful block to establish something he can offer me some good shots with it, also I can get high-speed option with 60FPS with pretty good lense options, that is EF 24-105MM f/4 L IS USM, EF 70-200mm f/4L IS USM, EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM, Sigma 18-35mm F1.8 DC HSM, EF 24-70mm f/2.8L ll USM, Tamron SP 24-70mm Di VC USD, EF 8-15mm f/4L Fisheye USM.
5D Mark III and IV which are generated by a full-frame 22.3 megapixel CMOS sensor that can shoot up to 6 frames per second (fps) and is also capable of incredible ISO speeds of up to 25,600 (expandable to 102,400) and also have lens options like 50 mm standard prime, 85 mm, 90 mm, 105 mm, 135 mm Portrait,
24–70 mm standard zoom, 70–200 mm tele and in fact we get wide-angle zoom, ultra wide and macro also and one of the best things about Mark IV is the autofocus, which makes shooting easy and comfortable.
Hence, we can come to the conclusion that nowadays if you want to shoot anything anywhere/at any place and in a pocket friendly budget then it is not impossible. All that you need to know is your project’s technical requirement and your DOP or cameraman’s guideline and help that is all.
