IIM Indore Signs an MoU with ABP Network
With an objective to identify, curb and address the issues related to the spread of fake news, the Indian Institute of Management Indore (IIM Indore) has signed an MoU with ABP Network on June 13, 2022. The MoU was signed by Prof. Himanshu Rai, Director, IIM Indore, and Mr. Avinash Pandey, Chief Executive Officer, ABP Network in Delhi.
Expressing delight over the collaboration, Prof. Himanshu Rai mentioned that the purpose of this MoU is to further strengthen the professionalism of the parties and to contribute to the development of an informed and open society through a mutual academic-practitioner collaboration system. ‘We at IIM Indore aim to take every initiative to contribute to the betterment of the society we live in. Media plays a significant role in our lives and it’s imperative that the news circulated among the citizens is authentic, credible, and transparent. We plan to work together and investigate social-psychological underpinnings of fake news and to design preventive mechanisms to address the issues related with the origin, spread, and impact of the same’, he explained. IIM Indore would also design awareness and training modules on digital/media literacy for citizens. ‘In line with our objective to contribute to the nation building, we would also analyze and recommend policy level interventions combating fake news eco-systems’, he added. The MoU also provides a platform for the personnel of ABP Network for short-term training/research opportunities with IIM Indore.
Mr. Avinash Pandey mentioned that ABP Network is delighted to collaborate with IIM Indore. ‘We plan to work together on research projects and training programmes for the government and non-government institutions. This would further strengthen our academia-industry relationship’, he said. We would also provide research/internship opportunities for IIM Indore students/ researchers/ personnel with ABP Network and conduct joint seminars and conferences on topics of mutual interest, he added.
