India teledensity in Nov 2023 stands at 85% with 1185.7 mn subscribers
Total wireless subscribers increased from 1,150.98 million in October, to 1,154.17 million in November 2023, registering a monthly growth rate of 0.28 percent, TRAI subscriber data report reveals.
Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel added 34.5 lakh and 17.5 lakh subscribers, respectively, while Vodafone Idea lost 10.7 lakh subscribers in November 2023.
Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd was the leading wired broadband service provider in November 2023 with 10.15 million subscribers, followed by Bharti Airtel with 7.28 million subscribers and BSNL with 3.8 million subscribers. Atria Convergence Technologies and Oneott Intertainment Limited cornered 2.21 million and 1.14 million subscribers, respectively.
The top five Wireless Broadband Service providers were Reliance Jio with 455.82 million subscribers, Bharti Airtel with 255.07 million subscribers, Vodafone Idea with 126.63 million subscribers, BSNL with 20.85 million subscribers and Intech Online Pvt Ltd with 0.24 million subscribers.
Wireless subscriptions in urban areas increased from 630.36 million in October to 630.72 million in November, and wireless subscriptions in rural areas increased from 520.62 million to 523.45 million during the same period.
The monthly growth rate of urban and rural wireless subscriptions was 0.06 percent and 0.54 percent, respectively.
Private access service providers held 91.85 percent market share of the wireless subscribers during the month. PSU access service providers BSNL and MTNL had a market share of only 8.15 percent.
In November, 11.95 million subscribers submitted their Mobile Number Portability (MNP) requests. With this, the cumulative MNP requests increased from 902.80 million at the end of October to 914.75 million at the end of November since the implementation of the MNP.
The number of active wireless subscribers was 1045.95 million.
Except for Assam, Kerala, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, J & K and Odisha, all other service areas have shown growth in wireless subscribers in November.
