Indian OTT industry faces content and growth challenges

The Indian OTT industry received a much-needed boost due to COVID, attracting significant investment from international players for exciting content. However, that’s now in the past.

Presently, not just Telugu OTT content, but the entire Indian OTT content seems too dull, lacking excitement in both movies and Tv series.

Apart from a couple of shows like ‘Railway Men’ and ‘Dhootha,’ there are hardly any series creating even a decent buzz.

It’s been a while since we’ve had exciting shows like “Family Man” or “Mirzapur.” This gradual absence of such content is reducing the excitement for home viewing, which might affect paid OTT subscriptions too.

Currently, OTT players are primarily focused on acquiring a few theatrical releases to run their platform. There seems to be a lack of concern or passion to create compelling original OTT content. M9 News
