MeitY has great success with DPI overseas
As of October 2024, 12 countries have deployed India’s digital public infrastructure (DPI). The DPI includes:
- Unified Payments Interface (UPI): A leading digital payment platform that allows Indians to make and receive payments internationally
- Aadhaar-enabled Payment System (AePS): Part of India’s DPI
- DigiLocker: A platform for digitally issuing and verifying documents and certificates
- Bharat Bill Payment System: An integrated ecosystem that connects banks and non-banks to facilitate bill payments
- FastTag: Part of India’s DPI
- DigiYatra: A mobile-based ID storage platform that uses facial recognition technology to make airport entry and security clearance paperless
India has also partnered with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to share its DPI expertise with developing countries in Africa, Latin America, and Asia-Pacific. The government is working closely with as many as 20 nations that have expressed their keen interest in using DPI.
Ministry of Electronics & IT (MeitY) facilitates the technology transfer.
