Senior Indian Information Service Officer Manish Desai has assumed charge as the Director General West Zone of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in the office of Press Information Bureau (PIB), Mumbai. Immediately prior to this, he held the post of Registrar of Newspapers of India in New Delhi. As DG West Zone, Manish Desai will lead the central government communication setup in the West Zone, looking after the functioning of PIB and Bureau of Outreach Communication (BOC) offices in the states of Maharashtra, Goa, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh. Earlier, he had worked for nearly a decade in PIB Mumbai as director and additional director general looking after government communication. He was also the DG, Films Division, during 2016–2018.
