Gautam Thakar has been appointed as chief executive officer (CEO) – Star Sports. In his new role, Gautam will lead the sports broadcast business as its CEO. Gautam brings over 20 years of deep operating and leadership experience. He started his career as a brand manager with P&G in India, then led baazee.com as a founding management team member (acquired by eBay in 2004). He spent 10 years at eBay in a variety of leadership roles before leading the turnaround at LivingSocial (acquired by Groupon).
Nakul Chopra, currently President AAAI and Senior Advisor, Publicis Communications has been elected as the next Chairman of BARC India. Nakul succeeds Viacom18 Group CEO Sudhanshu Vats, who successfully completed his 1-year tenure as Chairman. Nakul will be the third Chairman of BARC India. He joined the BARC India Board in September 2016 and since then has been an integral part of the various decisions taken by the Board. Sudhanshu has been on the Board of BARC India since its inception and will continue in his capacity as a board member.
Music network 9X Media Pvt. Ltd. has elevated Clyde D’Souza, Programming Head, 9XO. From February 2018, Clyde has been given the additional responsibility of handling programming for the Bollywood music channel. His elevation is aimed at bringing fresh programming ideas in the channel to further strengthen 9XM’s popularity and viewership. He has been associated with 9XO since the inception of the channel and is responsible for driving major innovations on the channel, such as 9XO Fan wars, 9XO Hook, Tweetdown, 9XO Social Screen, O Bot, and Insta Top 10, among others.
