NLL rolls out free global streaming platform

North America’s National Lacrosse League (NLL) has announced the launch of a new free global streaming service.

The NLL+ direct-to-consumer platform will provide access to all 126 live regular season games and every playoff matchup.

Canadian viewers will also have the opportunity to view every regular season fixture, excluding those broadcast on the linear network of TSN, the Bell Media-owned sports network.

Subscribers to the service in the US, meanwhile, will have access to highlights, full game replays, and additional league content for free on the platform.

NLL+ will be available in worldwide territories where the league doesn’t have a broadcast partner in place already.

The launch of NLL+ is part of the league’s strategy to “continue to expand aggressively into global markets.”

The league is keen to increase its exposure ahead of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games which will feature the return of NLL-style sixes lacrosse as a medal sport.

Brett Frood, the NLL’s commissioner, has said: “Our mission is steadfast in growing the consumption of our league and introducing box lacrosse to an expansive global audience. With the launch of NLL+, we’re taking a major step toward achieving that goal.

“Lacrosse is experiencing rapid growth internationally and we can now ensure that existing and new fans around the world will have even more access to our games.”

The 2024-25 edition of the 14-team NLL gets underway on November 29.

The momentum around the sport before the 2028 Olympics also recently (earlier this month) saw the Premier Lacrosse League launch a new women’s iteration – the Women’s Lacrosse League – to debut in 2025. Sportcal
