OTT deals delaying release dates?

The digital rights of the films featuring stars are fetching huge revenue and the producers are depending on them and are closing the deals as per the release dates. Digital giants like Amazon and Netflix are shelling out huge money but on specific conditions. They are buying the digital rights as per the digital streaming date and availability of the streaming dates as per their chart.

Netflix acquired the digital rights of Salaar on an agreement that the film will be available for streaming in February. The digital rights of Nani’s Hi Nanna, Nithiin’s Extra Ordinary Man and others are sold on the agreement of February streaming. So these films are now forced to release in December as the digital agreements would get canceled if the release dates get pushed. Netflix and Amazon have their streaming chart full for the first half of 2024. Hence, the filmmakers will have to bow down to the pressure and release their films at the earliest instead of cracking new deals. Telugu360
