Prasar Bharati Advises DTH, MSOs To Unblock DD Sports
Public broadcaster Prasar Bharati has directed private direct to home and multi-system operators to unblock the live-stream of DD Sports.
The directive via a tweet has been issued following viewers’ complaints that since the operators have blocked DD Sports, they cannot watch the World Cup matches.
The public broadcaster is running dual streams for the ICC World Cup 2019. The first stream telecasts the matches only on DD Free Dish and DD’s terrestrial network while the second stream carries a live studio-based program for the entire duration of all matches.
“With this dual stream an instruction will be issued to all private DTH and cable MSO platforms to not blank out @ddsportschannel on days when live matches are telecast under the mandatory sharing of sports signals act,” Prasar Bharati CEO Shashi Sekhar Vempati had said earlier.
Following the complaints, Prasar Bharati has again tweeted, “Advisory! Do Not Block DD Sports. @TataSky, @HathwayBrdband, @officiald2h, @SUNDIRECTIndia, @DishTV_India, @airtelindia.”
Vempati had also tweeted, “No private DTH or Cable Operator shall block lock @ddsportschannel. Please share screenshots of anyone doing so.”―Inside Sports
