Prasar Bharati To Carry Bangladesh State-Owned TV Channel For Free

Prasar Bharati has decided to carry Bangladesh Television on DD Free Dish platform without charging carriage fees. Bangladesh Television is the country’s State-owned national TV channel.

This was announced after a Bangladeshi delegation led by Gowher Rizvi, Adviser to Prime Minister of Bangladesh, met with Amit Khare, Secretary of Information & Broadcasting Ministry along with other officials on Tuesday.

The delegation also announced that a Doordarshan channel will be carried on its soon-to-be-launched DTH platform, an official statement added.

The officials also finalised various aspects involved in the making of a feature film focussed on the life of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, a co-production announced earlier by the Prime Ministers of both countries. The movie is being directed by filmmaker Shyam Benegal.

Documentary

“Co-production of a documentary on Bangladesh Liberation War was also discussed in the meeting. It was mutually agreed that the director of the documentary would be from Bangladesh who would be assisted by a co-director from India,” the statement added.

A working agreement on cooperation between All India Radio and Bangladesh Betar has also been agreed upon, and which will be implemented from June.

Community radio

“The Indian delegation also highlighted the strong network of Community Radio in both the countries and offered the services of Indian Institute of Mass Communication for training of Bangladesh personnel, along with exploration of sharing of content and best practises in this field,” the statement added.―The Hindu Business Line
