PVR Cinemas marks debut in Punjab; opens 4-screen multiplex in VRC City Mall
PVR Cinemas Limited, India’s leading film exhibition firm, announced today the opening of its first multiplex at VRC City Mall in Patiala, Punjab.
The new 4-screen cinema, which strengthens its grip throughout cities, is offered in a magnificently palatial environment with the greatest level of entertainment, making it the city’s most modern multiplex.
With this launch, PVR Cinemas consolidated its foothold in Punjab with 63 screens in 12 properties and 275 screens across 62 properties in the North.
The new facility, which is centrally located on the Rajpura Highway, has a total seating capacity of 621 spectators and is the city’s first multiplex fitted with luxurious reclining chairs for greater comfort and 2K RGB+ Laser projectors that produce ultra-high-definition, clear and brilliant pictures. Furthermore, the Audis include sophisticated Dolby 7.1 immersive audio and Next-Gen 3D technology.
Mr. Sanjeev Kumar Bijli, Joint Managing Director, PVR Ltd, commented on the opening, “We are happy to open our first location in Patiala as we deliver the greatest movie-going experience to the people of the city.” While we look forward to expanding our footprint across the country, we will continue to focus on smaller towns and cities in order to bring them up to the highest global standards of out-of-home entertainment that PVR provides in larger cities in order to reach a wider audience.”
The multiplex is created in a modern art deco style, inspired by Maharajas’ regal palaces. While a brilliant arched arcade forms the entrance to the theatre, the counters are blue and gold, symbolic of Patiala’s regal heritage.
PVR Ltd is currently trading at Rs1,695.05 down by Rs34 or 1.97% from its previous closing of Rs1,729.05 on the BSE. The scrip opened at Rs1,725.90 and has touched intraday high and low of Rs1,735.75 and Rs1,678.45 respectively. Indian Infoline
