RTBF wants to deactivate FM and DVB-T
The French-speaking Belgian public broadcaster wants to stop its digital terrestrial broadcasts by the end of the decade.
Besides DVB-T signals, which it plans to phase out from 2027, FM radio would also go. Norway and Switzerland have already cut their FM signals in favor of DAB.
This operation is part of a new strategic plan adopted by the Board of Directors of RTBF.
The aim of the plan is to significantly expand digital transformation, especially on internet platforms such as IPTV, streaming, apps and social media.
RTBF wishes to create new concepts and channels which would be partly financed by the shutdown of DTT. Unlike neighboring Flanders, there are no commercial DTT broadcasters in Wallonia. Ethopia.on-24
