Sky World News put on hold by NBC

The proposed international news channel combining the resources of Sky News and NBC News has been put on ice.

Sky World News was originally planned to make its debut in the summer, but Variety now reports the broadcaster is “stopping the launch plans,” attributing the remarks to NBC News Chairman Andy Lack.

The venture has faced multiple problems resulting from the Covid-19 outbreak including the moving of staff to home working and the UK lockdown that has put a halt to construction work at Sky’s Osterley campus.

50 journalists already hired to support the service are being deployed elsewhere. Broadband TV News
