Sony Pictures Network India retains UEFA media rights till 2023-24
Sony Pictures Network has renewed the partnership with the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) for the next three years until 2023-24. By retaining the rights, SPNI will officially broadcast the premium European club football properties which include, UEFA Champions League (UCL), UEFA Europa League (UEL), UEFA Youth League (UFL), UEFA Super Cup (USC) and the newly launched UEFA Europa Conference League (UECL) in the Indian subcontinent.
Sony Pictures will broadcast a total of 138 matches across UEFA Champions League and UEFA Super Cup properties, 141 matches of UEFA Europa League, and UEFA Europa Conference League, 39 matches of UEFA Youth league each season. The select matches will be telecast LIVE around the Sony Sports channels and a live stream will be done on its OTT platform SonyLIV.
Commenting on the development, Rajesh Kaul, Chief Revenue Officer, Distribution and Head of Sports Business, Sony Pictures Networks India said that, the company is delighted by extending the partnership with UEFA. As there are many fans of European club football in India, this partnership will continue to cement SPNI’s position as a global multi-sporting arena and premier the best international club football.
Along with UEFA events, SPNI also has rights to football properties like J League, Bundesliga and FA Cup and FIFA European Qualifiers. Recently, it had got Bundesliga rights for the Indian subcontinent. GN
